The short answer
Repiping replaces failing water supply lines inside an older home, often outdated galvanized steel that has rusted and narrowed from the inside. Precision Plumbing serves Eugene, Springfield, and Lane County homeowners with planned repipes using modern materials, helping resolve low pressure, rust flakes, pinhole leaks, and unreliable water delivery.
When to Call Us
Any one of these is worth a look. The earlier the cause is identified, the more repair options you usually still have.
01
Brown, yellow, or rusty water from fixtures
02
Rust flakes in faucet aerators or toilet tanks
03
Low water pressure that has worsened over time
04
Frequent leaks or patches to old supply pipes
05
A home with original galvanized piping from decades ago
How the Job Goes
No mystery, no surprise invoice. Here is the order of operations.
01
Assess the existing supply lines, fixtures, and access points.
02
Explain material options such as PEX or copper and plan the route.
03
Replace failing lines in a coordinated sequence to limit disruption.
04
Pressure-test the new system and review shutoffs and completed connections.

Why It Matters
Galvanized pipe can look acceptable from the outside while corrosion steadily closes the inside. A proactive repipe replaces an unreliable system before repeated leaks damage walls, floors, or finishes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if my home has galvanized pipes?
Galvanized pipes are gray steel and often have threaded fittings. Homes built before the 1970s may still have them, but a plumber can identify the material and condition during an inspection.
Does repiping improve water pressure?
It often does when old supply lines have narrowed from internal corrosion. The plumbing system should be evaluated first so pressure problems are not mistakenly attributed to the wrong cause.
Is PEX or copper better for a repipe?
Both can be appropriate. The choice depends on your home, local requirements, access, budget, and the type of plumbing system being installed.
Will my water be shut off during repiping?
There are planned water interruptions during a repipe. Precision Plumbing explains the schedule and sequences the work to keep the disruption as manageable as possible.
Can you replace only part of the galvanized piping?
A targeted repair may be appropriate for a limited problem. When corrosion is widespread, a full repipe is usually the more reliable long-term solution.

Both plumbers (Josh and Zack) were prompt and worked well. Having the owner stop by was a plus and fit well with the positive feelings this experience generated.
